[BC] Mondays are slow

Mondays are so slow!! Every Monday I wish Friday can come early, so that I can have my “break” (having fun all day long and do the work until the night before Monday) during the weekend. I really like Saturday, free to do whatever and no worries by the reason of no school the next day. I do not really like Sundays, last minute homework to stay up for, school the next day, even though I still no doing that much of work. I really like my Tuesday schedule; all of them are easy classes, no government on that day. Thursday schedule is okay to me though; the only think is that I have government on that day!! Maybe the only things I like about Thursdays are the next day is Friday!!!!!!! Seem like that I have to do so many work during the weekends, the fact that I do not do it when I have time, I just go to Facebook or other websites chat with friends or do something else that do not relate to homework.
I am kind of scared about the report cards coming out; I can barely guess most of my grades. I am doing the grade check every two week for AVID, my grades are not looking too great. I am determined to get this year though. I am pretty sure I have said this for a thousand times to me, but this year is going to be a little being different. I will admit these past couple years I have not tried my best and when the grades came out I did not improve myself by changing any of habit. I became lazy right after the first month of school, I had tried for not doing any of assignments for an entire whole week, and hence, I bombed my quizzes. I knew some of my friends did a fantastic job on their grades, like over is like having a 4.0 GPA for three years. I need to beat that.
I deferred a lot. I am one of those kids that wait until the bight before the due day to start on works. Especially Thursday nights are dedicated to the homework and the study for quizzes, turned to so many work for me…. Because I am Asian and quiet in class, I have good grades. Err. I am quiet in class because I am spacing out and I do not like going up to people, I wail for them to talk to me. I really need to learn how to make new friends, they come in handy for group activates or help. I should stop going in the internet so much too; spend more time for school work. I am try and change things up, do better in school so I can earn what I want, but that is a whole other story to that, still I need to work harder!!! Fight it out!!!
Ok, I past my 500 mark right now, so I am done…. So, Buh-Bye! I hope you guys have fun reading my post. XD

[ESSAY]Beauty VS Humanity

In today’s competitive world, companies use many different ways to maximize their profits. Many stores prefer to hire attractive people rather than hiring knowledgeable skill workers. Employing only attractive employee will lead to discrimination to other workers. It not only will devalue their work abilities, and will given negative influence toward teenager. According to Marshal Cohen, it is true that by hiring good looking workers will help business gain more profits. However, businesses or stores should not only hire people based on exteriors because this might lead to decimation and negative to teenagers.
Retail stores like Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister, American Apparel, American Eagle, Aeropostale. All these names are probably extremely familiar to young preteens and teenagers of this generation. But the difference is what reactions people come up with when the names of these brands are spoken aloud. In order to understand the appended of stores hire more attractive workers instant of knowledgeable workers, it is related to Cohen’s argument. Cohen is a senior industry with the NPD Group, a market research firm, which sounds like he advises stores on how to make the most money. however, Cohen’s majority claims is by hiring based on looks is necessary in order to compete with other retail stores.  By saying that stores are in business to make money, so that they have to do what they have to do. what Cohen is really saying is that it is so hard to make a profit in retail, so it is okay to discriminate.   According to Cohen’s argument, companies desire to make more money by employing people who are able to present companies’ image well. Also, it helps to create an environment through having a fashionable market. Obviously, the method can capture consumers’ attention. While the intentions of these commercial businesses are perfectly understandable, it is necessary to know the many disadvantages of hiring only good looking employees.
Hiring good looking workers causes issues of discrimination. Some companies, like the popular Abercrombie & Fitch, only give opportunities to handsome men or pretty girls. Olophius Perry, a director of an office, says, “If you’re hiring by looks, then you can run into problems of race discrimination.” Here, he clearly points out the issue of discrimination. If companies only hire attractive people, other people, who are competent, are being discriminated. Most importantly, the attractive employees may not work as hard as others who are rejected by these businesses. The attractive employees realize that having good appearances allows them to obtain work even though they are lazy. Obviously, hiring attractive people produces discrimination and decreases the productivity of workers.
Furthermore, companies, judging on one's appearance, set a bad model for teenagers. These businesses do not care about the specific skills or experience of a worker; they only pay attention to a person's looks. Because of that, many teenagers will think that having experience or knowledge is not important anymore. They may pay the majority of their attention to their clothing instead of studies; some attractive teenagers may give up pursuing a secondary education because they can easily find work at these stores, and their abilities or skills will be limited by their lack of academic knowledge.  Meanwhile, teenagers may apply companies' standards to their own lives. An employee describes one of the standards of his company, "Everyone is supposed to look like a 110-pound model." His description shows that most of the workers should be skinny in order to be hired. This idea may become pervasive to teenagers, who can then affect teenagers' diets; they will follow the standard by limiting their diets. If companies continue to judge workers' appearances rather than competencies, teenagers will harm themselves both physically and emotionally through health problems or lack of education.
Businesses should not only hire employees who have good appearances. Judging based on looks; companies will produce some forms of discrimination, and do not allow teenagers to have a better future. Thus, even though employers are able to gain some profits, they should not hire people based on their attraction, which will decrease the quality of workers or teenagers' lives.

[CE] Ed Lee needs to call off his "friends"

Well, when I first see “Ed Lee” I will suddenly remember the advertisement s about him and another candidate who also wants to run for the mayor of San Francisco.

Since I did not live in San Francisco, I did not really know anything about Ed Lee. I barely know that he did something that supports the education in San Francisco (from the advertisement on the TV). The sad thing is that the attacks on Lee are spot on. He is effectively a Republican in many ways. His connections to Rose Pak and Willie Brown are reasons to vote for anyone but him. And he has really done very little as mayor. He is trying to coast into office, and he has the audacity to act offended that he has opposition. The man is the worst sort of political sleaze. If he thinks he "changed" his mind, then you are truly gullible. He was picked to be mayor for the long run.

I think it is important for San Francisco avoid having Lee as mayor. Know that the way that “instant runoff” is likely to work this time, having Lee's name anywhere on the ballot will likely count as a vote for him. It is also important to completely leave his name off our ballots. Not first choice, not second choice, not third choice, but completely off the ballot. Being a Chinese, I understand why the people in SF wanted Ed Lee to run as mayor; but I will choose a leader that do something bad. In my own opinion I will choose anyone but Lee.

[FREE] XD

Since this week is spirit week (do I say it right?), most of students were dress up for the entire whole week, but I did not except for Friday. I have so many works to do and I am so lazy to find material that would help me to dress up for the entire week, so I choose not to do so.

The first day of this week is pajama day that is fun to wear pajama to school which will give me more time to sleep before I really wake up and go to school. The problem is that my mom gives us a ride to school every day, she might ask me so many question when I did not have a normal school look. I forgot what is Tuesday, Wednesday is Bro-day. That is really cool that everyone dressed up like boy, with cap, shorts, sunglasses, shirts and long socks (Maybe this is my view on how to dress up in a Bro-day).  Thursday is fake injury day, I saw so many people with band aid on their face but I am so lazy and did not “dress up” for that day. Today is Friday, also is homecoming day!!!  I got high when I was during the assembly thus I have a raucity voice. My face paint on my shoulders were got wrap off into my pants. L I don’t feel like doing it I have test after the assembly, that’s no fun at all. I hang out with my friends after school until 5. They went to Football Homecoming Game and I went home to finish all posts that have to due tonight. Overall, this week is kind of crazy and fun.

[RE] A Tennis Racket

"Some people are scared of the darkness but I am not. I am not scared that people will rob me because I have tennis rackets to protect me."--Nathan Wong

I could not stop laughing when my friend first read Nathan’s post that makes both of us really wanted to use his post as a response post for the weekly. I think he is really “innocent”, that also including some stupid elements over there. Since Nathan said that he is not scared that people will rob because he has tennis rackets to protect himself, oh, really?? What if people have gun and you only have a useless tennis racket? Are you going to protect yourself? Though Nathan’s post, it makes me remember what happen to my friends last week.

Since I heard that from my friends, I do not really get to know the detail; it was several days before, my friends still going around like shopping or some other reasons at night. Two guys came up pulled out a gun and pointed to them, my friends have no choice to give their wallets and cell phones to the robbers. That is better than you instead keep the money and risk of their lives.

Seriously, I think Nathan just really like tennis and forgot about the important issue when a robber has gun and you only have something that is less lethality, that only a tennis racket is not going to help you!!! Just don’t do this kind of stupid thing when it really happens.

(I show this post to my friends, all of them could not stop laughing when they read the third sentence on first sentence.)

[CE]What Happen Next?

I find out that I would like to read every news article either is about education or events that relate to education. I think this is so important for me because that is about our future.

This is the link for the news article, click here.

This article is talking about OUSD decide to close thirteen schools to balance for the budgets. The affect for change school to school might have psychologically damaging those children. Most of the data in this article shows that OUSD have 43% of schools have fewer than 300 students, which schools don't have enough funding to cover every children's costs. And that become the reason to eliminate 13 schools.

I have two different point of view on closing 13 schools in Oakland.  First, from reading the headline, closing school is the worst thing you can do in Oakland, but when you crunch the numbers, it makes perfect sense. It is a really simple math problem, reduced student enrollment means less funding for schools. consolidate schools will have more money can be provided for each student enrolled. The article appears that the protesters are losing focus on the priority, which is the quality education for students. By cutting down 13 schools, what is the new student to teacher ratio going to be? Have they considered the growth of these areas and the affect on the student ratios? Are they going to guarantee the students have treated equally within a big class rate?? The students won't have enough attentions from teachers if the class becoming bigger and bigger. The main point in here is cutting education to be able to afford more law enforcement will creating a vicious circle that only end up badly.

RIGHT?! What do you think??

[FREE] Frustrated!!

Since this is the free post, I might just talk about whatever I want to! XD I might just talking about the frustrated thing I have.
As school started, I found out that I do not have enough time to manage everything I want to do. School is so busy, too much work for me and I have to study for SAT I, II. I am so busy!!! I just finish the bill topic description in the second period, and I do not think that I did a good job on it. Sign, SAT is tomorrow, I do not even have time to look over it in the past few day. People might think that I am really stupid… “You are taking the SAT tomorrow, why don’t you study for it???”  My answer would be “so many works to work on, and no time to study.”
The good news for next week is that we only have four days school, a long weekends in October. Good!! So I will time to really do my work! ADD OIL!! College applications, homework, and to study for quizzes in AP Cal, lots of work I need to do. ><
By the way, I just received the senior portfolio package on Thursday, which a pack of work I have to do. The portfolio is not due until February, if I do not start right now, I might keep pushing to the next day and start to do it at the week that we all have to turn in.
Isn’t it lots of work to do??  RIGIHT?!
